Low crime, privacy, and a peaceful setting are several qualities of Litchfield, NH

Litchfield has traded its agricultural past for the comfortable mantel of a quiet, bedroom community. Signs of its heritage are evident with a drive down the towns major road, Route 3A. Cows and horses grazing in the fields by the side of the road, old farmhouses, farm stands, and 'pick your own' apples, blueberries and pumpkin patches line the road.

The town of 7,300 residents is situated near Route 293 and is minutes away from the Manchester Airport, which makes it ideal for residents that commute to almost anywhere. One-acre lot restrictions are intended to preserve the town's country atmosphere for future generations.

Although residences are the most prominent buildings, there are a few restaurants and small businesses in town. Litchfield is home to Tee-Off at Mel's, a popular driving range, batting cage and miniature golf course, and the 18-hole Passaconaway golf course, both of which lure in visitors from nearby towns.

With only a fire station, a few stores, and an attractive old library at its town center, Litchfield isn't hard to take in on one trip. Much of the town remains agricultural, a tribute to the days when Litchfield led the state in farm production. But with Manchester, Derry, Hudson, and Nashua on near borders, Litchfield is slowly becoming part of the integrated network of communities that is today's Gateways region.
