Nashua By The Numbers

We've put together a few graphs to help illustrate the living and working conditions in the Greater Nashua area.

Below - New Hampshire is well known for its high quality of life. Such high rankings are in part due to the remarkable number of recreational activities available to people living in the state. Each town in the Greater Nashua region has extensive recreational facilities available to residents. In addition to the available public parks, a high priority has been placed on youth sports, including baseball and soccer.

Left - New Hampshire has consistently ranked among the top of states with the lowest unemployment. A diversified manufacturing base and a strong technology and service sector have contributed to consistently low unemployment and balanced, steady job growth.

Below - Nashua has one of the largest and most diversified employment markets in New Hampshire with almost 85,000 jobs in the region. In addition to having among the largest employment market the average weekly wages are substantially higher than that of any other employment market in New Hampshire. Manchester, only 15 miles north of Nashua and the closest in terms of weekly wage offers wages 13 percent lower than Nashua.

Above- Nashua has continued to see job growth during the recent economic slowdown. Growth in employment has been seen in virtually every employment sector between January 2000 and January 2001. Leading this growth has been strong gains in higher wage industries such as Manufacturing, Durable Goods and the Finance, insurance and Real Estate sector.

Left - New Hampshire has always put a high priority on the community and the family. This "know your-neighbor" attitude has helped to keep crime of all sorts at a very low level in the state. Recently, New Hampshire's violent and property crime rates combined to be the lowest of all the states. As compared to neighboring states in the New England region, New Hampshire's rate of violent crime and property crime is far below that of its neighbors.
